Car prices may set you back again

The ride is set to get bumpier for car buyers. For the third time this year, car prices are slated for a mark up. According to carmakers, the two hikes this year were too small to counter the rapid rise in raw material costs. Prices are expected to increase by up to Rs 5,000 for mid-segment cars and up to Rs 12,000 for the bigger saloons and SUVs....

A GM spokeswoman said the automaker has told some tracks over the past couple weeks it will discontinue sponsorships. GM is the official auto sponsor at 12 of the 22 tracks where NASCAR holds its top Sprint Cup Series races, and the automaker also is the title race sponsor at the track in Richmond, Virginia.

In a trend setting move, Tata Motors, India’s largest automobile firm is hiving off its sales and distribution operations into a separate entity, as part of a restructuring exercise. The development comes at a time when the company is readying to launch the worlds ultra cheap car Nano.
