'Despite inflation, cost pressure, salaries witness 15% increase'

Rising inflation and higher input costs may be putting pressure on India Inc but this has not taken a toll on employee salaries. At least not yet. In fact, salaries went up by almost 14.8% this year. Indeed, this may be lower than last year's average of 15.1%, but the slowing down of the economy has not really affected salaries this year. Hummer going to be a tough sell for GM

General Motors Corp has not even officially put Hummer up for sale yet, and likely buyers are already backing away. Three automakers that held exploratory talks with GM on a possible Hummer sale are now expressing disinterest, meaning only one thing is certain: Hummer is going to be a tough sell. Making vehicles that average between 9 and 14 miles a gallon, Hummer is not a particularly attractive asset as gasoline prices squeeze drivers worldwide and environmental concerns increasingly trump any other notion of what's cool.

M&M to hold 51% in new Chinese JV

Tractor major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Monday announced plans to pick up a 51% stake in a newly formed joint venture with Chinese firm Jiangsu Yueda Yancheng Tractor Manufacturing Co.
